Such thinking, and, importantly, the communication of such thinking, reinforces the lifeboat mentality of such churches. I always feel uneasy about interpreting "answered prayer" stories as proof of God's faithfulness, because we've all experienced unanswered prayers.

Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire Embed. This is an excellent book for any Christian who wants to discover what "The Church" is supposed to look like, and act like.

And less "church marketing" or "new plans to keep up with the times" or "ways to increase church membership exponentially". The meeting began on a hesitant note with just a handful of people. Few sense the need to repent of their own wrongdoing. These are impressive stories that I don't believe can be refuted—they show the Holy Spirit working on the heart of man, bringing man to action, to repentance. Jim had no formal ministerial training and I suspect still hasn'tand make no mistake about it, he takes pride in that fact.

Daily living, distractions, and spiritual warfare take their toll. If you read uncritically, you could be forgiven for thinking that to venture out into the streets is suicidal, or at the very least is an invitation to debauchery and addiction.
